Read a Mums Survival Guide to our Real Family Holidays
Mum’s Survival Guide reader, Sarah Peck and her family, husband Robert and daughters Lydia and Lucy, attended FSC’s Family and Astronomy Weekend in February 2013. We asked her about her experiences.
MSG: What was your initial impression of the location?
Sarah: It was simply stunning – the surrounding scenery was breath taking and we immediately felt relaxed and connected to the countryside – the views being completed by this beautiful Georgian House
MSG: What was the accommodation like?
Sarah: It was a very comfortable, clean and spacious dormitory style accommodation. We were given the option of sharing with the girls which was a lovely touch. There was a communal lounge with a wonderful roaring fire which provided a focal point for all the families to meet, socialise and relax at the end of the day with tea, cakes and even a glass of wine
MSG: Were you provided with meals?
Sarah: Yes, we had a superb home-cooked three course meal in the evenings and a traditional breakfast in the morning. As we were out and about during the day, the centre provided us a with wide range of ingredients for packed lunches which I thought was a great and considerate idea particularly for those of us with fussy eaters
MSG: How did you find the staff at the centre?
Sarah: Amazing! From the minute we arrived it was clear that nothing was too much trouble. We were made to feel extremely welcome. The staff were knowledgeable, engaging and passionate. They were friendly and always available to help out with advice, encouragement and a steadying hand throughout all the activities
